For an inexperienced person, Antoine Mossano looked like a strange fanatic, but for a knowledgeable person, he was a connoisseur of his business, a romantic in love with a vine. Winemakers from all over the world came to him and he could pack up without a doubt and leave for them to work on vineyards for several weeks or months as a simple peasant, only to learn something new about grapes.
One fine day, Mossano was tasted by a representative of the imperial family of Russia Nikolai Mikhailovich Romanov. Mossano immediately struck Nicholas with his knowledge of Georgian winemaking and winemaking in general, but Mossano never tasted Georgian wines. This served as an excuse that the representative of the tsar dynasty took advantage of Nikolai, who invited Merle Antoine Mossano to Georgia. Thus, Mossano arrived in Georgia in 1891.

The man who had this appearance was a creator from God. After inspecting the estate, Mossano immediately determined that this climate and soil are very suitable for growing grapes from France.
To help Mossano was given the peasant Pepia who knew the local climate and soil well. Confidence arose between them and Mossano told Pepia about his plan to grow French grape varieties in Kakheti.
